SALISBURY — A severe thunderstorm is moving out of Rowan County after a heavy downpour and reports of hail, according to the National Weather Service.
The storm hit Rowan shortly after 5 p.m. Hail has been reported in areas near Catawba College.
A Rowan County Communications supervisor said power lines are down at the intersection of East Innes and Shaver streets, Sherrills Ford Road, and the 900 block of South Main Street in Kannapolis.
The National Weather Service reported the storm had wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph and dime-sized hail.
