SALISBURY — A man who was taking care of a dementia patient was accused of stealing jewelry from the family this week.
Michael Everette Page, 121 Ashley Drive, was arrested about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday night after deputies said he stole nearly $1,300 in gold bracelets, rings and chains.
The daughter-in-law of the dementia patient contacted authorities after finding her missing jewelry at a nearby pawn shop on March 9.
An arrest report said the man took care of her father-in-law during the day while she and her husband were at work.
Because it was more than $1,000, a magistrate asked the woman to speak with deputies.
After an initial investigation, officers arrested 36-year-old Page at his home last night.
He was charged with felony larceny and released after posting a $7,500 bond.
