SPENCER — Police arrested four Rowan residents Tuesday capping an undercover sting operation over the last several months.
Christopher Duane Robbins, of 906 Second St.; Robert Cletus Hamilton Jr., 700 N. Salisbury Ave. Apt. 8; Robert Thomas, 407 S. Iredell Ave.; and Nicholas Edward Overly, 823 E. Liberty St., Salisbury, were arrested during the drug round up, according to a Spencer Police release.
Mooresville Police assisted in the undercover operation.
Hamilton was charged with felony trafficking opium, felony trafficking oxycodone and felony selling narcotics.
He was in jail Wednesday under a $150,000 bond.
Thomas was charged with two counts of felony trafficking opium.
Overly was charged with three counts of felony trafficking opium, felony selling narcotics and felony possession of narcotics.
Robbins was charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver and two counts of felony selling and delivering marijuana.
Police Chief Michael James said the prescription pill busts were “indicative” of what officers are seeing nationwide.
But James said prescription pills were not the target.
“Like we said at the bottom of the press release, we reserve the right to do this again in the future,” he said, “and I anticipate we will.”
James said he hopes the sting makes a statement.
“Our message is there is no tolerance for drug use in the town of Spencer.”
