A severe thunderstorm for northwestern Rowan County has been issued by the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect until 4 p.m.
Doppler radar shows a line of severe storms capable of producing quarter-sized hail and damaging winds of more than 60 miles an hour are in the area. The line of storms is moving east at 50 miles an hour.
People affected the storms are warned to seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows until the storm passes.
A tornado watch was issued earlier in the day.  
The weather will clear tonight, with temperatures in the mid 30s and a 30 percent chance of rain.
Saturday’s forecast calls for sunny, breezy weather, with a high in the lower 50s and winds of 15 to 20 miles an hour. Cooler temperatures return Saturday night, with lows in the upper 20s.
Sunday’s forecast is about the same as Saturday’s, though winds will be calmer.
