CLEMSON, S.C. — Andre Young and Tanner Smith scored 13 points each and Clemson held Virginia to its second-lowest point total this season in a 60-48 Tiger win.
The Tigers (13-12, 5-6 ACC) took control with an 18-9 run over the final eight minutes to give the Cavaliers (19-6, 6-5) their second straight loss. Virginia looked out of synch with outside threat Joe Harris playing in a cast after breaking his left hand in a loss to North Carolina.
Harris came in averaging 12 points a game, but was limited to two points on 1-of-5 shooting.
Jontel Evans led the Cavaliers with 17 points and star Mike Scott finished with 13, four below his team-leading average.
Devin Booker added 10 points for the Tigers.
No. 6 OHIO STATE 78, MINNESOTA 68
MINNEAPOLIS — William Buford scored 24 points to spark No. 6 Ohio State (22-4, 10-3), and Jared Sullinger backed him up inside with 23 points and eight rebounds to guide the Buckeyes to a win over Minnesota (17-9, 5-8).

FORT WORTH, Texas — Hank Thorns scored eight of his 32 points in overtime for TCU, which overcame an 18-point deficit to beat UNLV (22-5, 6-3).
It was the first win for TCU (15-10, 5-4 Mountain West) over a ranked team since February 2007.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Members of Conference USA and current and future members of the Mountain West are on their way to forming a new conference that will begin in 2013.
The 16 schools announced their plans Monday.
The new conference will likely include 18-24 schools, be split into divisions and not only have a football championship game but also semifinal games, and will hold a conference basketball tournament.
• CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Patriot League will begin offering football scholarships in 2013 in a move the conference hopes could help position itself for potential expansion. The seven schools that play Patriot League football had been limited to offering aid for financial need since the conference’s formation in 1986.
OLYMPICS
NEW YORK — Baylor All-American Brittney Griner is among 21 finalists for the U.S. women’s basketball team that will compete at the London Olympics.
Griner is looking to become the first women’s college basketball player to compete in the Olympics for the U.S. since 1988 when Vicky Bullett (Maryland) and Bridgette Gordon (Tennessee) played.
The 6-foot-8 center joins WNBA stars Sue Bird, Tamika Catchings and Diana Taurasi. All three of whom won gold in the 2008 Beijing games.
BASEBALL
CHICAGO — Four years later, the Chicago White Sox finally signed Kosuke Fukudome — and for a fraction of the price he cost the Cubs. The outfielder agreed Tuesday to a one-year contract that guarantees $1 million. Now 34, Fukudome joined the Cubs for the 2008 season with a $48 million, four-year contract.

NBA

The Bobcats (3-25) have lost 11 straight games with Augustin sidelined with inflammation in his right toe.
GOLF
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Tiger Woods is returning to the Honda Classic for the first time since he was an amateur.
Woods announced on his website Tuesday that he would play the Match Play Championship next week in Arizona, followed by the Honda Classic and the Cadillac Championship at Doral.
The Honda Classic is March 1-4 at PGA National.
It’s the second time this year Woods has added a tournament not typically on his schedule. He played the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am last week for the first time in 10 years, closing with a 75 to plummet from contention.
Woods played the Honda Classic in 1993 as a 17-year-old, when it was held at Weston Hills. He had rounds of 72-78 and missed the cut.
