Hart Harrington Wedding

MOUNT PLEASANT —Melissa Britt Hart and John David Harrington were united in marriage Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at The Saratoga Springs. The Rev. Dr. Jim Dunkin of First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury officiated the 4:30 p.m. ceremony, which was immediately followed by a reception.
Presented in marriage by her parents, Kim Athey and Tim Hart, the bride was escorted by her father. Melissa was attended by Karin Miller of Wilmington as maid of honor. Serving as bridesmaids were Melanie Harrington, sister of the groom, of San Diego, Calif.; Megan Honeycutt of St. George, S.C.; Carrie Melton of Salisbury; Stacy Miller of Rockwell; and Mallory Patterson of Salisbury.
David Harrington of Salisbury stood as his son’s best man. Serving as groomsmen were Charlie Beretsky of Banner Elk; Michael Bowles, brother of the bride, of Salisbury; Lee Frick of Salisbury; Chad Hart, brother of the bride, of Charlotte; and Jason Hart, brother of the bride, of Salisbury.
The bride is the daughter of Kim and Dennis Athey of Gold Hill and Tim and Cindy Hart of Salisbury and the granddaughter of Hilda and the late Bill Hart of Salisbury and Grover and Vangie Miller of Gold Hill. An honor graduate of East Rowan High School, Melissa received a Bachelor of Science in Health Policy & Administration in 2001 and a Masters of Accounting in 2002 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Melissa is a certified public accountant and worked for Ernst & Young in Charlotte through late 2011. She is now employed by Delhaize America in Salisbury as a Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis.
The groom is the son of David and Diane Harrington of Salisbury and the grandson of Eloise and the late John Lacy Harrington of Lillington and the late Braxton Carraway and Nellie Boyette of Goldsboro. A graduate of East Rowan High School, John received a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and minor in Business Administration in 2004 from East Carolina University. John is employed by Venture Construction Company in Greensboro as a Construction Superintendent.
Virginia Booth of Salisbury, longtime friend of the groom’s family, was an honorary guest.
Following a honeymoon to Costa Rica, the couple has made their home in Salisbury.

On Oct. 8, 2011, family and friends honored the bride and groom with a shower at Gold Hill Park Log Barn given by aunts and uncles of the bride: Stan and Rita Honeycutt, Gary and Tam Powers and Doug and Judy Trexler. Musical entertainment was provided by the bride’s brother, Chad Hart, and Kyle Lindley.
A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents, David and Diane Harrington, at The Saratoga Springs on Nov. 18, 2011. A special slide show was prepared by the groom’s mother.
