SALISBURY — Two men were in critical condition Monday night after an argument ended with them both being shot on West Fisher Street.
Salisbury Police said a black Lincoln pulled in front of 811 W. Fisher Street around 2:45 p.m. and two men in the driveway began arguing with men inside the car. The argument turned violent, and the men started shooting at each other.
Neighbors said they heard three or four shots fired during the altercation.
Brian Oglesby, 32, and Michael Shunta Bost, 31, were injured during the shooting.
One man was shot in the chest, the other in the leg. They were both taken in private vehicles to Rowan Regional Medical Center then transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Both were in critical condition Monday night.
Salisbury Police said the investigation is ongoing and declined to say if the two men shot each other.
Phyllis Worth said she is the stepmother of one of the men, but would not say which man. She lives at 811 W. Fisher Street, where the shooting took place.
Worth said she ducked when she heard the gunshots.
“Children out here in the streets, I don’t know where they’re getting these guns,” Worth said.
Police cars blocked West Fisher Street Monday afternoon. Crime tape blocked off the road and front yard of 811 W. Fisher Street.
Detectives spoke to neighbors and searched the Fisher Street residence. Officers also placed evidence seized near the street in several brown paper bags.
Worth, a mother of four, said she didn’t hear what the two men were arguing about.
“They’re shooting at each other like it’s the wild, wild west out here,” Worth said. “It’s just a shame.”
Oglesby was shot multiple times in the stomach during a 2007 party attended by about 100 people on Tabernacle Street.
Both men have lengthy criminal records, including convictions on charges involving drugs and violence.
Police said they found the black Lincoln involved in the incident Monday. No charges had been filed Monday evening.
