SALISBURY — Working off a tip obtained Thursday night, Salisbury Police officers raided a Kinley Street home and found nearly 60 grams of cocaine and about 8 grams of marijuana.
According to arrest reports, Namon Luckey was charged with felony trafficking in cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Salisbury Police spokeswoman Shelia Lingle said the drug bust started “from the ground up” and began with officers on the Police Interdiction Team.
After officers were notified about the 1237 Kinley St. home, P.I.T. team members worked with the department’s narcotics unit to gather information and obtained a search warrant.
Officers surrounded the home about 8 p.m.
The report said as officers entered the front and back entrances, they heard a screen fall from a window.
They later discovered that Luckey had attempted to throw the drugs out of the window, according to the report. Bags of cocaine and marijuana were found on the roof of a car parked beside the home.
Police said 2.04 ounces of cocaine, .28 ounces of marijuana and $796 was seized in the raid.
Luckey was arrested in the home’s hallway. He was charged and was in jail Friday under a $250,000 bond.
Luckey is a familiar face among Rowan County law enforcement.
Since 1997, he has been convicted of six drug-related charges — four of them felonies — including two for possession of cocaine.
Luckey also told police that he was shot in the arm in 2009 after two men broke into his home, held a gun to his head and demanded money.
