Rufty Free Wedding

Nicole Kristin Rufty and Alex Spencer Free were united in marriage Dec. 3, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Salisbury. The Rev. Jim Dunkin officiated the 5:30 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the Holiday Inn Ballroom.
The bride was escorted by her father, Mark Rufty. She was attired in an Oleg Cassini strapless satin ball gown in pickup style with beaded embroidery, beaded bodice and a cathedral train. Attending as maid of honor was  Brittany Bost of Mooresville. Bridesmaids were sister of the groom Meghan Free of Chapel Hill, cousin of the bride Lauren Rufty of Indian Land, SC, and Jamie Green of Huntersville.
Timothy Free stood as his son’s best man. Serving as groomsmen were brother of the bride Dylan Souther of Salisbury, brother of the groom Ethan Free of Salisbury and Nicolas Wale of Charlotte.
Lillian Green of Huntersville was flower girl, and Joshua Farley of Timonium, MD, was ring bearer.
Shanna Wood attended the guest book. Music was provided by soloist A.J. Green accompanied by Thomas Green; and organist Monty Bennett.
The bride is the daughter of Mark and Teresa Rufty of Salisbury and Karen Rufty, also of Salisbury; the granddaughter of Rachel and the late Tommy “Pop” Rufty of Salisbury and the late Billie Beck; and the step-granddaughter of Lynn and Shirley Johnson of Statesville. A 2007 graduate of East Rowan High School, Nicole received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2011. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Sorority and was a dean’s list student. Nicole is employed by CVS Pharmacy in Concord.
The groom is the son of Timothy and Patricia Free of Salisbury and the grandson of Bronley and Peggie Free of Red Lion, PA, Linda Diehl of York, PA, and Betty and the late Calvin Monroe of Salisbury. A 2007 graduate of East Rowan High School, Alex received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from UNCC in 2011. He was also a dean’s list student. Alex is employed by C.R. Onsrud in Troutman.
Following a honeymoon in Jamaica, the couple are making their home in Cornelius.
