A man escaped on foot Tuesday afternoon after walking into Ron’s Quick Grocery in Enochville and pointing a handgun at two clerks.
Rowan County investigators said the man left the store with an undisclosed amount of money. The store was robbed about 3:30 p.m.
The report said officers responded to 418 S. Enochville Ave. in reference to a panic alarm.
While on the way, deputies were notified about a call from one of the clerks about an armed robbery that had just occurred.
The report said the man left the store through the front door and walked around the right side toward Tuckaseegee Road.
The two clerks told officers the robber was a white male, wearing khakis, white tennis shoes and a green sweatshirt hoodie with the hood pulled over his head. The man also had a “green knitted woman-style scarf” around his face.
Deputies said the man walked to the counter and demanded money, pointing a small black handgun, believed to be a 9 mm, at the employees.
Deputies used a canine unit to follow a scent about 150 yards from the business.
Authorities believe the man had a vehicle waiting at that location.
Investigators were working to get video surveillance from the store on Wednesday.
