Catawba beat Livingstone 72-68 in womenís basketball at Goodman Gym on Monday night.
Elizabeth Merrittís 3-pointer with 28 seconds left broke a 66-all tie, after Livingstone had rallied from a nine-point deficit.
Dana Hicks hit two clinching free throws for the Indians with nine seconds left.
Nisha Long had 21 points and six assists to spark Catawba (4-4).
Chloe Bully hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points. Hicks had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Merritt produced 10 points and 10 boards. Jolysa Connor scored 10 points.
Rashida Elbourne led five Blue Bears (3-6) in double figures with 15 points. Jasmine Murray recorded her third double-double with 10 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Kelcyn Manurs added 11 points, while Montiya Harrison and Sophie Lepzem scored 10 apiece.
Catawba plays Belmont Abbey in a tournament at Wingate on Friday. The Blue Bears return to the court on Dec. 28 against Queens.

n Prep wrestling
East Rowanís wrestlers finished second in a 10-team tournament held at Mount Pleasant on Saturday. The host Tigers won the event with 214.5 points. The Mustangs had 141.5.
Eastís Mark Almeida was a tournament champion with a 3-0 record at 126 pounds.
East runner-ups in the event included Jason Deutsch (2-1) and Shiheem Saunders (2-1). Finishing third were Logan Haas (3-1), Morgan Crawford (3-1), William Jacobs (2-1) and Joseph Patterson (2-1).
Jacob Campbell, Orton Santangelo, Kevin Phillips, Raykwon Torrence, Justin Smith and Donald Schlesselman had wins in the tournament.
East, 6-0 in dual team competition, wrestles at home against Central Davidson on Thursday night and will compete in the county wrestling tournament at North on Saturday.

Girls
West 35, China Grove 14
Khaila Hall and Jessica Yates scored 10 points each for the undefeated Bulldogs (7-0). Tatciana Cowan added nine points, while Peyton Greene contributed five.
Greene, Claudia Patterson and Chelsea Cuthbertson led the Bulldogs on the boards.
West plays Mooresville on Thursday.
North 42, Corriher-Lipe 26
North led 14-4 after the first quarter. Special Washington led the Mavericks with 13 points.
Kamryn Stamey scored 14 points for the Yellow Jackets (2-5), while Malaysia Williams had eight.
Erwin 46, Knox 16
Erwin (5-2) was led by Brittany Smallís nine points. Shenell Pharr scored eight. Melonye McCree had six points and seven rebounds, Shelby Lowe had six points, and Casey Ward grabbed nine rebounds.
Aliyah Farmer led Knox (2-5) with seven points.
Boys
West 54, China Grove 38
K.J. Wilsonís 10 points and eight rebounds and Amara Morrisí 11 points and four steals paced the undefeated Bulldogs (7-0).
Ryan Bearden and Michael Morrison scored seven points apiece for the Red Devils.
Corriher-Lipe 52, North 51
Christian Holbrook scored 17 points and Colson Childers had 15 to lead the Yellow Jackets (3-4) to an exciting victory. Tre Littlejohn scored seven, Heath Barringer had six, and L.J. Sherrill chipped in with five.
Naquis Caldwell scored 16 to lead the Mavericks. Josh Handy scored 12 points, and Xavier Partee added 10.
Northís Mavericks overcame a 12-point halftime deficit to force OT.
Knox 52, Erwin 26
Jalen Sanders led Knox (6-1) with 18 points. Donnell Alexander scored nine, and Corban Usry added six.
Logan Shuping led Erwin (4-3) with eight points.
Erwin is home against Mooresville today.
n Nagurski Award
In Charlotte on Monday, Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy given to the nationís top college defensive player. The other finalists were LSU defensive back Morris Claiborne, Alabama defensive back Mark Barron, Illinois defensive end Whitney Mercilus and Penn State defensive tackle Devon Still.
The 6-foot-3, 237-pound Kuechly led the nation in total tackles with 191 and solos with 102.
n North Hills hoops
The North Hills elementary school boys team rolled over Statesville Montessori 49-18.
James Houghton scored 22 points to lead the Eagles (5-1).
Marshawn Hargrove added 10 for the Eagles, while Trey Carlton had eight.
n Middle school wrestling
North Rowan defeated Corriher-Lipe 66-30.

Salisburyís Eric Edwards won the Winternational Junior Series event at Pinehurst No. 6 over the weekend.
Edwards shot 75-75 ó 150 to win the Freshman/Sophomore division. He had the low round of the weekend.
