SALISBURY — Police caught a man who fled after officers say he stole batteries out of equipment at a Salisbury business.
According to a police report, Salisbury officers saw Jamie Jerico Horton, 19, in a fenced area of United Rentals in the 100 block of Mooresville Road about 4:30 a.m.
As officers got closer, Horton ran from the lot. He was caught shortly after.
The report said Horton was carrying a bookbag with bolt cutters and other tools inside.
Authorities believe Horton was cutting batteries out of machinery at the business.
He was charged with misdemeanor resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer, misdemeanor larceny, misdemeanor trespassing and violation of city codes.
He was in jail Tuesday on a $2,000 bond.
