SALISBURY ó Nearly a year ago, Walter Corriher lost his wife Loma on Christmas day.
The two would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28.
On Monday, he made a $100 donation to Christmas Happiness in honor of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren because itís something Loma wouldëve done, he said.
Walter and Loma were from Rowan County and met at a church social while he was on leave from the Navy.
Loma loved children, Walter said.
ěIf there was a baby around, she thought she had to tend to it,î he said.
Although he made a contribution in honor of the children and grandchildren, itís also a tribute to her.
ěItís going to be hard on them,î he said of the children and grandchildren.
Loma loved them so much, Walter said.
ěItís harder on me every day,î he said.
