SALISBURY — Deputies arrested seven this week in a series of scrap metal thefts across the county.
Rowan County investigators said they tracked a series of scrap metal incidents at a Kannapolis church, Saw Road and Happy Lake Road to 34-year-old Ronald “Duke” Honeycutt and 35-year-old Catherine Lefler Stegall on Thursday.
Authorities said the two stole air conditioning units and copper parts from 245 Saw Road and an abandoned home at 285 Happy Lake Road, as well as a well pump from Bethpage United Methodist Church in Kannapolis.
Stegall was charged with felony larceny and two counts of misdemeanor larceny.
She was in jail Friday under a $5,000 bond.
Honeycutt was charged with felony larceny, two counts of misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor breaking and entering. He was given a $10,000 bond.
On Wednesday, deputies arrested two Salisbury residents after authorities said they were stealing scrap metal from a home in the 800 block of Goodson Road near Statesville Boulevard.
Callers identified the two as driving a Suzuki and deputies found the vehicle nearby, and said it contained stolen materials.
Officers arrested 29-year-old James Michael Jones and 28-year-old Shelly Lee Euart at the scene.
Both were charged with misdemeanor larceny. They were released after posting bond.
Chadwick Lee Eudy, 37, was charged with stealing scrap metal from Salisbury Machinery at 1325 Litton Drive.
Eudy was charged with misdemeanor larceny and possession of marijuana.
Friday morning, Jeffrey Milton Craig and Christopher James Coubal turned themselves in at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies had issued warrants for arrest for the two after authorities said they believe the two caused more than $60,000 in damage to a large air conditioning unit at Extreme Motorsports on West Ritchie Road.
They both posted $500 bonds. They were charged with misdemeanor larceny.
