SALISBURY ó Some people have made giving to Christmas Happiness a yearly ritual.
ěThatís what we take pleasure in, doing things for children who donít have,î Sandra McKenzie says. ě… We upped it a little bit more this year because there is so much need.î
Sandra and her husband, Larry, made a $400 donation to the Christmas Happiness Fund, which helps provide Christmas for needy children in Rowan County.
As they usually do, the McKenzies donated in memory of their late parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.M. Williams and George and Ethel McKenzie.
Spencer residents Norman and Sarah Holshouser also give annually to Christmas Happiness, and they dedicated this yearís contribution in memory of Sarahís late parents, Whitney and Ida Mae Kluttz.
People might remember Whitney Kluttz, who died in 2000, as a Southern Railway man, who followed his railroading career with many years of work for Martin-Marietta.
The Holshousers made a $100 Christmas Happiness donation, and Sarah says the couple likes knowing the money will be going to someone locally.
ěWe just like to help the children,î she adds.
Bring contributions to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or mail them to The Salisbury Post, Christmas Happiness Fund, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC 28145-4639.
Make checks payable to the Christmas Happiness Fund and indicate how you wish your donation listed.
