Transportation Museum lays off one third of its staff

SPENCER — Due to a revenue shortfall, the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer will eliminate five full-time positions Jan. 1, almost one-third of its staff.
The state cut the museum’s $1.2 million funding in half this summer and will give no funding to the facility next year. The museum has started charging a $10 admission, but revenues have been less than expected.
