Prescription drug abuse seminar Friday

Prescription drug abuse is a problem in Rowan County ó and there are things the community can do about it.
That will be the message of a free presentation by Fred W. Brason II, set for 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.Friday at First United Methodist Church in Salisbury.
The program is among the efforts of The Chronic Pain Initiative to prevent misuse and abuse of prescription drugs, a major problem in North Carolina and throughout the country.
The initiative is a collaborative effort of the Community Care of Southern Piedmont and Community Care of North Carolina and Project Lazarus.[0x14] The effort seeks to engage the community ó through building coalitions typically made up of health officials, law enforcement, civic groups, schools, public service organizations and others ó to encourage the development of interventions tailored to a specific community.
