Concord Christmas events start Friday

CONCORD – The city of Concord will have its 14th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday. Sponsored by Cabarrus Bank and Trust and CMC-NorthEast, the annual event will feature family entertainment, Santa and fireworks!
The evening takes place in Historic Downtown Concord, with activities focused on Market and Union Streets http://www.concorddowntown.com/directions-parking.html . Parking is available in several locations.
Event highlights:
5:30 p.m.: Motorized trolley, horse-drawn carriage rides and children’s activities begin;
6: Opening ceremony and introduction of Santa;
6:10: Music from The Choral Academy;
6:35: Music from Gary Gilmore;
7: Music from Beverly Hills, Irvin and McAllister elementary schools;
7:30: Tree lighting and fireworks.

On Saturday, the fun continues with the http://www.cabarrusevents.org/id63.html ACN 83rd Concord Christmas Parade. The parade starts at Church Street North at Lake Concord Road N.E. and ends at Union Street South at Corban Avenue S.E.-S.W.
During the parade’s 83-year history, parade marshals were chosen from the local community and for their leadership and contributions to the city. This year, ACN and Cabarrus Events Association salute the http://www.bgclubcab.org/ Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County as they celebrate their 65th year of serving the community.
The city of Concord is presenting the marching bands; CMC-NorthEast is sponsoring the float awards; and the Boys and Girls Club is sponsoring the band awards. The parade is produced by the Cabarrus Events Association.
