CHINA GROVE — A father and son were arrested Wednesday afternoon after Rowan County investigators said they broke into a Phaniels Church Road home.
According to arrest reports, Ronnie Dale Thompson and his son Ronnie Dale Thompson Jr. were arrested at their home at 103 Courtney Lane about 8 a.m.
Investigators said they found Thompson Jr., who had active warrants for failing to appear in court, hiding under the bed.
The arrests came one day after the Post published photos from a surveillance camera in the garage of the Phaniels Church Road home.
Deputies said they believe the Thompsons broke into Danny Lee Furr’s home twice, the first time in mid-September when more than $30,000 in property was stolen, and again at the end of October.
A September incident report said electric motors, tools and several thousand feet of copper wire were stolen from the residence.
During the Halloween weekend, investigators said, the Thompsons broke into Furr’s home in the 300 block of Phaniels Church Road again, but were caught on video by a surveillance camera inside the garage.
In the recent break-in, which was reported Nov. 2, Furr told authorities that 20 poultry brooders valued at $4,000 had been stolen.
The elder Thompson was charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny and simple possession of narcotics.
He was given a $10,000 bond and was in jail Wednesday evening.
Thompson Jr. was charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny and three counts of failure to appear in court.
He was given a $15,500 bond and was also in jail Wednesday.
