LANDIS — The mayor’s race in Landis is a tie with incumbent Dennis Brown and challenger James Furr each receiving 195 votes.
Officials with the Rowan Board of Elections say they must certify any provisional ballots to determine if the voters were registered to make certain if it would change the numbers.
What happens if the tie remains?
“They’ll be chosen by lot. They will have to draw straws or pull a name out of a hat,” said Nancy Evans, county elections director.
Aldermen Roger Safrit and Tony Hilton will return to the board. They were the highest vote-getters with 257 and 242 respectively.
