The leader of the Rowan-Salisbury School System is a contender for the honor of the state Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Judy Grissom is one of three finalists for the award, which will be presented during a reception in Greensboro on Nov. 15.
Grissom, who was named the Superintendent of the Year for the southwest region earlier this year, will be up against Dr. Tim Farley of Granville County Schools and Dr. Diane Frost of Asheboro City Schools for the title.
The North Carolina Superintendent of the Year is chosen by a selection committee appointed by the North Carolina Association of School Administrators and the North Carolina School Boards Association.
