Three on way to hospital after wreck

SALISBURY — Three people were transported to the hospital Thursday after a driver lost consciousness on Brenner Avenue and collided with a Jeep.
According to Salisbury Police, 68-year-old Walter Lee Thomas, the driver of a GMC Sierra, lost consciousness due to a medical condition and crossed the center line at about 2 p.m.
Thomas hit the side of an older model Jeep Cherokee. The driver of the Jeep, 54-year-old Cathy Elizabeth Martin, 5050 Samet Drive, High Point, and an unidentified passenger were also taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center.
All three passengers were taken away on stretchers.
Authorities on the scene did not know the severity of the injuries.
Rowan Rescue Squad, Rowan EMS, Salisbury Fire Department and Salisbury Police responded to the accident.
