SALISBURY — The executive director for Historic Salisbury Foundation will not return after an extended leave of absence.
Cynthia Cole Jenkins, who was hired March 1 and took personal leave in mid-July after her mother died, told foundation leaders she won’t be able to determine whether she will return for several more months.
“We can’t wait that long,” said Susan Sides, president of the foundation.
Jenkins has decided not to come back, Sides said.
“I miss her so much already,” Sides said. “She was such an asset to the community and of course to the foundation. Her knowledge of preservation was just incredible.”
Jenkins has been on unpaid leave. David Post, who was a board member and chairman of OctoberTour, has served as interim executive director.
Sides said she hopes Post will agree to stay on as interim director while the board searches for a new permanent employee.
