Stabbing victim is local band member

Police are searching for suspects in a stabbing that left Salisbury resident and Yadkin River Theory band member Kenny Thomas in critical condition.
According to Salisbury Police, Thomas was found on the sidewalk near the 600 block of South Jackson Street at about 1:45 a.m. today after he called 911.
Thomas, 35, was taken by helicopter to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was listed in critical condition this evening.
Friend and fellow band member Tripp Edwards said police called another member of the band about 5:30 a.m. Edwards was notified a half hour later.
“I’m really at a loss for words right now,” Edwards said this evening. “This whole thing’s just really shocking.”
Edwards, a Salisbury resident, said he visited Thomas in the hospital today after Thomas’ emergency surgery.
“They were apprehensive about letting us go see him,”?he said, “considering he was a victim of a violent crime.”
But after Thomas came to, he asked for hospital staff to let them in, Edwards said.
Edwards and Thomas have been playing together for about the last 10 years. They’ve played together in the Yadkin River Theory since the Salisbury band’s creation in early 2009.
Edwards said Thomas has lived in the Salisbury area about 15 years.
Edwards said he’s shocked that this happened to Thomas, who he said has no enemies.
“He’s just an all-around, fun-loving guy.”
