SPENCER ó The Spencer Womanís Club will host a Candidatesí Forum 7 p.m. Thursday. It will be held at their clubhouse at 100 Third St.
All known candidates for mayor or alderman have been invited.
The candidates invited are Mayor Jody Everhart, who is running unopposed, and Board of Aldermen candidates Scott Benfield, Robert Bennett, Jim Gobbel, Kevin Jones, Jeff Morris, David H. Smith and Reid Walters.
Candidates will be seated in the order in which they appear on the ballot and will draw numbers to determine the order in which they are questioned. Gary Atwell will serve as moderator.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and those attending will have an opportunity to submit questions for the candidates.
Each candidate will be given two minutes to introduce himself, including background, education, philosophy and viewpoints.
All candidates will be asked the same two questions, selected by the planning committee, with one minute allowed for each answer. Candidates will then be given one minute each to answer a question selected at random from those submitted by audience members.
This will continue until questions or time runs out. If necessary, a question may be reused to give all candidates a turn. The planning committee reserves the right to edit vulgar or inflammatory questions.
Light refreshments will be served, and candidates will have an opportunity to distribute campaign materials. The event is expected to last about two hours.
No smoking is allowed inside the clubhouse.
