BOONE ó Travaris Cadet and Jamel Jackson combined for five touchdowns in Appalachian State’s 35-17 rout of Samford.
Jackson scored the game’s first touchdown, rushing for 2 yards to give Appalachian State (5-2, 3-1 Southern Conference) a 7-3 lead. Jackson’s first passing touchdown came on a 69-yard bomb to Brian Quick while his second, a 41-yard pass to Tony Washington, gave the Mountaineers a 28-10 third-quarter lead.
Jackson finished with 290 yards on 19-of-30 passing with two touchdowns and 40 rushing yards.
Cadet scored from 5-yards out in the second quarter and then again from 12 yards out in the fourth to give Appalachian State a 35-10 lead.
The win marked Appalachian State’s 16th-straight regular-season home win and its 31st victory in its last 33 Southern Conference games.

CULLOWHEE ó A 61- yard pass from Zac Brindise to Garrett Brown with 1:32 to play in the game was the only score for Western Carolina. The Catamounts (1-6, 0-5)lost their fifth straight game and 11th conference game in a row. Western has scored seven points in each of its past two games after averaging 29 points in its first five.
