SALISBURY — Dr. Marty Younts kept a journal from the day of her breast cancer diagnosis through surgeries, treatments, a stem-cell transplant and, ultimately, recovery.
The breast cancer survivor and author of “Whatever It Takes” will share her inspirational story from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Salisbury Country Club, 747 Club Drive, during a free event sponsored by Rowan-Regional Medical Center to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Marty Younts’ message of survival is a vital message for everyone,” said Jill McNeely, nurse navigator with Rowan Breast Health Center. “You do not have to be a cancer survivor to be inspired by her presentation.”
Younts, who lives in Lexington, is a retired educator, consultant and corporate leader. She’s also a wife, mother and grandmother but is most proud of her title as a breast cancer survivor.
Sunday’s event is free, but registration is required and seating is limited. Participants will hear Younts’ presentation and enjoy refreshments, including a chocolate fountain with strawberries and pineapple. She also will sign copies of her book.
