MIAMI ó Carmelo Anthony fully expects the NBA to cancel some regular-season games soon, and said players around the league have been bracing to hear that grim news.
The way Anthony put it Saturday night, it almost seems inevitable.
ěTheyíre going to cancel the first two weeks of the season,î Anthony said. ěWeíll see what happens then. If they want to lock us out, lock us out. Weíre going to stick together.î
The New York Knicks forward played in the South Florida All-Star Classic hosted by Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in Miami, the latest ó and most competitive ó of the many exhibitions players have participated in during this lockout that reached the 100-day mark Saturday. NBA Commissioner David Stern has said that the first two weeks of the regular season could be canceled as early as Monday if a deal is not struck.
Anthony says it would not be ěrealisticî for the sides to agree on anything before then.
ěI donít think nothing is going to happen between now and Monday,î Anthony said. ěSo weíve just got to be prepared for that, be prepared for the lockout for the first two weeks and see where all this is going.î

CHICAGO ó An Illinois college student who won the national slam-dunking championship has been signed by the Harlem Globetrotters.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Jacob Tucker was welcomed to the team Friday with an appearance on NBC’s “Today Show.”
The 5-foot-10 player won the dunking half of the College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships at the Final Four in March. He was invited after a YouTube video of his dunking skills became an Internet hit.
Tucker was a basketball standout at Illinois College in Jacksonville and Carlyle High School in southern Illinois.
His new Globetrotters nickname is “Hops.”
