Banksí debit card fees show greed that is killing country
It is amazing to me that Bank of America and several other banks are going to charge a $5 monthly fee to use a debit card. I have noticed many banks addingmany different fees for different services.
First of all, banks make profits from home and car loans. If you borrowed $50,000 on a 30-year loan, you will pay almost that much back to the bank in interest. People who have been faithful to their local banks need to be treated as a loyal customer. I think it is very distasteful for a bank to do this kind of thing in a good economy, and to do it in a recession tells me a lot about that company.
All businesses need to realize one thing: If you charge $5 at the movies for a drink, people will stay home and watch a movie. If you go to the Panthers game and it cost $30 for two sandwiches and two drinks, people will eat before they attend a game. If you go to a race and it costs $400 for a family to attend, people will watch from home. If banks charge unnessary fees, people will find another bank.
Greed is killing our country and the family. Many banking executives and board members make big profits from all types of loans, while their customers foot the bill. I bank with a credit union, and they do not charge me any fees.
I will not bank with Bank of America. There are many families who would like to take that $5 and buy their child a ticket to the movies. I will take my $5 and do just that, because I have had a great bank with no hidden fees. If you have to use a magnifying glass to read the fine print, you better go see another bank.

A vote for change
I would like to say to all the candidates running for Salisbury City Council, please donít forget about the taxpayers out in the Harrison Road-Westwood area. We have paid double taxes since 2007, and here it is 2011, yet we still donít have any city benefits (except for the double taxes).
I hope people will note on Nov. 8 and make some changes in local government. Get rid of people who have been on City Council too long. Change is good.
And by the way, Paul Woodson, I had $10 to run for City Council, but I am sick and working on retirement. I will be back. You can count on it. I will save my $10 for the next time.
