A Salisbury man was charged on Thursday after deputies say he was seen walking around inside his home while authorities attempted to serve an arrest warrant.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy D.W. Dearth saw Demarko Dominic Sturdivant driving on Bethhaven Drive in Salisbury. The report said Dearth was familiar with Sturdivant and knew he had an outstanding order for arrest against him.
As Sturdivant pulled into his home at 145 Bethhaven Drive, the report said the man turned and looked at the officer as Dearth pulled in behind him in Sturdivant’s driveway.
But the 35-year-old walked inside the home and locked the door, ignoring Dearth’s knocks, the report said.
As another unit arrived on the scene, Sturdivant could be seen walking from room to room in the home talking on his cell phone, but did not answer authorities.
After warning the man, deputies kicked the door down and arrested Sturdivant.
They also found a small bag of marijuana and rolling papers in the home.
Sturdivant was charged with misdemeanor resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor driving while license revoked, and failure to appear on a DWI charge.
He was given a $4,000 bond and was in jail on Friday.
