ROCKWELL — Three people have been charged after police say a Rockwell couple let two children stay overnight in a camper with a registered sex offender who molested one of them.
Scott Christopher Jensen and his wife Tori Rene Jensen were charged Sept. 27 with felony aiding and abetting after the Department of Social Services notified Rockwell Police about a reported sexual offense from April, according to arrest warrants.
Rockwell Police said registered sex offender Daniel Flores was staying in a trailer in the Jensens’ backyard at 207 Depot St. when the incident occurred. Arrest warrants indicated the children did not belong to the Jensens.
Warrants said the Jensens knew Flores was a registered sex offender but still allowed him “to be unsupervised in a camper overnight with two juveniles, ages 9 and 11.”
Authorities were contacted Sept. 16 and warrants for Flores were drawn just three days later.
Flores, 45, was arrested at his home at 6109 Buffaloe Road in Raleigh.
The arrest warrant said the Jensens “failed to prevent a crime when they had the opportunity to do so.”
A warrant for Flores stated the 45-year-old “unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did commit and attempt to commit a lewd and lascivious act upon the body” of one of the children.
Flores was charged with felony indecent liberties with children.
He was given a $40,000 bond and was in jail this afternoon.
The Jensens were both charged with felony aiding and abetting. They were released after posting $20,000 bond apiece.
Flores was convicted in Florida in 1997 for felony kidnapping and felony sex offense.
