SALISBURY — Another man was charged Tuesday in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Deal Road in July.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Leo McIntyre, 3230 Denson Place, Charlotte, was charged with felony robbery with firearms and other dangerous weapons and felony conspiracy to commit common law robbery.
Deputies told the Post on Sept. 30 that they were looking for McIntyre, along with two others, after investigators learned that the armed robbery was planned in Mecklenburg County jail.
Scott Beaver, owner of Beaver’s Honda Car and Salvage, told the Post after the incident that two gunmen walked into the front yard of their Deal Road home, pointed guns at them and told them to go inside.
The robbers then tied up Beaver’s wife and grandson and pointed their weapons at the younger children in the home, demanding money from Beaver’s safe.
Deputies arrested Roderick Darnell Hardin after tracing the money to a storage unit in Charlotte.
According to the report, officers found some of the stolen money inside one of Beaver’s children’s toy box in the unit.
Officers also charged Timothy Donahue and Osman Nodar White with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons.
Detectives reported that they found out that McIntyre, White and Hardin were communicating and planning the robbery while in jail through “coded messages.”
Investigators continue to search for White’s brother Abdul White, and Hardin’s sister, Vashonda Hardin, who deputies believe received money after the robbery.
Hardin remains in jail with a $1.5 million bond. He was also charged with felony conspiracy to commit robbery and felony robbery with firearms or dangerous weapons.
Donahue was given a $250,000 bond. White remains in Mecklenburg County as a federal inmate from an ATF case.
