GRANITE QUARRY ó Havenít you always wanted to throw a pie in someoneís face?
Hereís your chance.
The town of Granite Quarry, in raising money for the United Way of Rowan County, launched a fundraising effort Monday to determine which departmentís personnel ó administration, maintenance, fire or police ó will be targets later this month of cream pies in the face.
Employees and residents are being asked to come by the Town Hall through Oct. 12 and drop their loose change or dollars into one of the four cannisters set aside for the town departments.
The donation cans at Town Hall are positioned under a ěVote Hereî sign.
The department with the most money in its can ěwinsî the chance to have pies thrown at designated members of that department.
The pie-throwing event will take place at 5 p.m. Oct. 14 in the parking lot of Town Hall. Family, friends and residents will be able to purchase pies at $1 a throw.
Sarah Cross of the townís administrative department has organized the event.
