A Mooresville couple was in jail Thursday after authorities say a woman reportedly pulled a gun on her boyfriend after she accused him of cheating.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Clifford Miller and Arlene Giles were both arrested at 250 Phillips Hollow Drive after deputies were told that the woman was drunk Wednesday night when her boyfriend returned home from Georgia and pointed a gun at him.
Miller told deputies that he arrived home at about 8 p.m. and noticed that Giles was intoxicated. Miller said that the couple then began arguing and she went to the home’s bedroom and returned with a .38-caliber Smith and Wesson handgun.
Miller talked the woman into lowering the gun and, as she walked back into the bedroom, reportedly struck her in the head.
The woman attempted to pick up the gun, the report said, but the gun was pushed under a nearby chest when the couple began tussling.
The woman then went to another room in the home to call 911. While she was gone the man hid the pistol and waited in his outside shop for authorities to arrive.
After speaking with both, deputies arrested Giles and Miller. Giles, 48, was charged with misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun. Miller, 41, was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female. Despite allegations, the report did not indicate if the woman appeared intoxicated to officers.
They were initially given no bond because of the domestic situation, but have since been released after having their first court appearances on Thursday.
