You may already be aware that the Rowan Public Library has Kindle ebook readers that can be checked out for two weeks. These Kindles come preloaded with more than 100 titles for your reading pleasure.
Now we are happy to announce to all of you who have your own e-readers that the North Carolina State Library has available through their Digital Library hundreds of ebooks that you can download to your computer, smart phone or ebook reader.
To take advantage of that service you must first be a card holding member of the Rowan Public Library (or any of the 20 participating public libraries) and you must have created a PIN for your card at you local library. Access is simple and can be done through the Rowan Public Library home page.
To browse the ebook collection from the home page look for the green block on the right. At the bottom of that block you will find (under the NClive.org symbol), NC Digital Audio & Ebooks. Double click on that line to enter the screen where you will find the instructions on how to download titles, view the hold list and register your devices.
The electronically downloaded ebook will magically appear on your device and stay there for two weeks. At the end of that two weeks, it will magically disappear and, if you need more time, will have to be reloaded again.
Now your portable library can be ějust a clickî away.
Computer classes: Classes are free. Sessions are approximately 90 minutes long. Class size is limited and on a first- come, first-serve basis. Dates and times at all locations are subject to change without notice.
