Authorities have one man in custody and are searching for others Friday in the Deal Road home invasion robbery in July.
Deputies arrested Concord resident Timothy Donahue on Thursday after investigators found that Donahue was the “contact person,” used to case Scott Beaver’s residence. The report said Donahue knew Beaver and his “habit of keeping money from his business at his home from his past employment contact.”
The Beavers were robbed at gunpoint at their Deal Road home on July 21. Scott Beaver, owner of Beaver’s Honda Car and Salvage, told authorities that two armed gunmen bound his wife and grandson and pointed their weapons at the younger children, demanding money inside the safe in his home. The stolen amount has not been released.
Investigators reported that Roderick Darnell Hardin, who was arrested by deputies July 30, planned the armed robbery with other inmates Osman Nodar White and Leo McIntyre Jr. while in Mecklenburg County jail. White is being held on federal charges from an ATF case, the report said.
Investigators reported that White continued communicating to the other inmates through “coded messages” obtained by detectives.
Detectives also found that Abdul White, Osman White’s brother, and Vashonda Hardin, Roderick Hardin’s sister, received money after the robbery.
On July 29, deputies obtained a search warrant for a Charlotte storage unit where they found a child’s toy box which belonged to the Beavers containing a large amount of cash.
At about 2 p.m. on July 30, Roderick Hardin was arrested as he returned to the storage unit, the report said.
Donahue was booked this morning at about 1 a.m. on charges of felony conspiracy to commit robbery and felony aiding and abetting armed robbery. He is in jail under a $250,000 bond.
Osman White, who remains in Mecklenburg County jail as a federal inmate, was also charged with felony conspiracy to commit robbery and felony aiding and abetting armed robbery.
Deputies are searching for McIntyre, Abdul White and Vashonda Denise Hardin. Deputies plan to charge all three with felony aiding and abetting. McIntyre is also expected to be charged with felony conspiracy to commit robbery.
Roderick Hardin received an additional charge of felony conspiracy to commit robbery, along with an additional $75,000 bond. He was charged in July with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and six counts of felony kidnapping. He was initially given a $1,500,000 bond.
The investigation continues and more arrests are anticipated. Anyone with information are asked to contact Detective Lieutenant Chad Moose, 704- 216-8687; Detective Adam Loflin, 704-216- 8686; or Crime Stoppers, 1-866-639-5245.
