Wreck leaves more than 2,000 in the dark
A wreck on Long Ferry Road resulted in more than 2,000 Rowan County residents and businesses losing electricity Wednesday evening.
A vehicle hit a utility pole in the 1700 block of Long Ferry Road. No one was injured, but the accident damaged the pole and brought down a power line, a supervisor at the Rowan County 911 center said.
At 6:30 p.m., Duke Energy reported 2,170 Rowan customers were without electricity. They included businesses in downtown Spencer and homes in East Spencer.
