RCCC personal enrichment classes

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is offering a number of personal enrichment classes this fall.

Tai Chi for Beginners óThis eight-week beginner class, called ěBirdís Tail,î consists of weekly one hour instruction and daily practice at home. Tíai Chi is a gentle art. Each person comes with different physical and mental attributes and limitations. The class will start from that point, and without forcing the body or mind, gradually coax the body and mind into the cultivation of the life energy, called ěchi.î Students will also learn some moving and breathing exercises called Qi Gong. Wear loose clothing, flat shoes and be prepared for an hour of relaxing, light-hearted play.

Zumba ó Get fit in this Latin-inspired, cardio fitness workout program. Students should wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, now through Oct. 27, 5:30-6:30 p.m., North Campus, Salisbury, Building 400, Room 4124 (aerobics room). Registration, $45, plus optional $2.55 insurance.
Core Stability ó This course makes use of gliding sliding disc exercises to transform traditional exercises, allowing for engaged full body effort from start to finish. This class has been enhanced to include exercising with stability balls. Participants may improve balance, muscular endurance and flexibility while working out to popular music. Bring a stability ball, mat, towel and water and wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing.
Thursdays, Oct. 6- Nov. 3, 9:15-10:15 a.m., South Campus, Concord, Building 1000, room 106. Registration, $35, plus optional $2.55 insurance.
Beginning Yoga ó This course introduces the fundamentals of yoga with a focus on proper breathing techniques, relaxation and correct body positions. Yoga is an exercise that strengthens the body and mind through exercises in relaxation and balance. Space is limited to 15 students to facilitate individualized instruction. Bring a yoga mat and wear loose, comfortable clothing.
Thursdays, Oct. 20-Dec. 15 (no class on 11/24), 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., North Campus, Salisbury, 4124 (aerobics room). Registration, $65, plus optional $2.55 insurance.

Digital Photography Classes: How to Use Your Digital Camera ó These classes will cover the basics of digital photography, teaching to the studentís camera. Students should bring textbook, camera, storage card, batteries, USB cables and manual. The registration fee is $ 100 and does not include the textbook (Welcome to Digital Photography ó 2nd Edition, ISBN: 978-1-59136-175-6).

Cake Decorating ó Learn the basics of cake decorating in this hands-on class. The registration fee does not include supplies. A supply list will be provided prior to the class (materials for supply list are not expected to exceed $25).

Clip-and-Save Couponing óLearn the secrets to saving money with coupons ó where to get the best coupons, how to use them, and when to get the best savings. The registration fee is only $20; participants will save more than that in a single trip to the grocery store.
