West Rowan class of 1971 reunites

The West Rowan High School class of 1971 celebrated its 40th reunion the weekend of Sept. 16-17, beginning with the home game at West Friday night. Approximately 40 classmates and guests attended the game. Classmates then gathered at College BBQ to hang out as they did some 40 years ago. Owner Jay Owen allowed the class to recreate some of the atmosphere they recalled at the restaurant. Bob Moffitt, local jukebox dealer, placed a jukebox full of ěoldiesî in the restaurant.
Saturday morning, classmates played golf at Foxwood Golf Club and that evening all gathered at the Holiday Inn to eat and reminisce. Deejay Lee Noland provided music.

Marvin VonCanon and Rene Steele Atwell had a memorial time for deceased classmates Janet Cline, Bonnie Rary, Faye Patterson, Dickie Feamster, Dennis Hildebrand, Billy Cohen, Larry Hosch, Ronald Simmons, Fred Bailey, Kathy Messick, David Cuthbertson, Gail Rankin and Carolyn Royal.
Pam Garrison Kluttz, Kathy Karriker Holt and Susan Bradshaw Owen awarded door prizes. A ěsenior powerî banner made by classmates Lane Pethel and John Whaley and displayed at basketball games in 1971 was on display with other memorabilia.
