SALISBURY ó Food Lion customers can raise money for the school of their choice by participating in the MVP Classroom Rewards Program.
When customers shop with their MVP Card, a portion of their grocery bill spent only on qualified Food Lion brand products is automatically credited to the shoppersí local school of choice.
Food Lion will credit dollars spent on qualified brands back to the participating schools. Donations up to $2,500 will be distributed three times per year to schools in April, August and December.
ěFood Lion is committed to supporting the local communities that we serve,î said Food Lion Community Relations Manager Bill Garcia. ěLast year, we donated more than $500,000 to schools through the Classroom Rewards program. We look forward to surpassing this amount during the 2011-2012 school year.î

Thirty-One appoints China Grove woman to Leadership Council
Thirty-One has recognized Jennifer Caraccio of China Grove for achieving multiple honors at the company’s eighth annual national conference in Columbus, Ohio.
She is one of 80 Leaders who was appointed to the Leadership Council, her second year on it. Appointed members are top achievers in several award categories, including top team sales, top recruiting and top in personal volume.
She recruited and qualified 19 future members into the Thirty-One family.
More than 7,600 Thirty-One Consultants were in attendance during the three-day event. She oversees a team of 184 consultants.
Statesville relay event benefactor of Carolina Balloon Fest

Citizens South repays TARP funds
GASTONIA ó Kim S. Price, president and chief executive officer of Citizens South Banking Corp., said the company has redeemed all of the preferred stock issued to the U.S. Department of the Treasury in December 2008 under the Capital Purchase Program, a part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).
At the height of the financial crisis in 2008, Citizens South accepted an investment from the Treasury and created a special residential mortgage program to assist consumers and homebuilders.
Since receiving the investment, Citizens South Bank has originated more than $11.9 million in the special residential mortgage loan program. Citizens South has paid $1.9 million in dividend payments to the Treasury under the Capital Purchase Program.
ěWith the financial and mortgage markets now on much stronger footing, and with mortgage rates at historic lows, we felt the time was right to repay the Treasuryís TARP investment in full,î Price said in a news release. ěWe are pleased that our participation in the Small Business Lending Fund program, effective today, has enabled us to repay the TARP investment.î
