SALISBURY — Two people were injured in a head-on collision in the 3000 block of Faith Road on Thursday afternoon.
According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, Timothy Dean Stancill and Kim Clodfelter hit head-on just after 2 p.m. when Stancill’s pickup veered into Clodfelter’s path.
Both were taken by ambulance to area hospitals, the Highway Patrol said. A helicopter was requested but not available at the time.
Clodfelter was treated and released, according to Rowan Regional spokeswoman Robin Baltimore. Stancill, 51, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center at Northeast, according to a Highway Patrol trooper at the scene. Stancill was not listed at CMC, hospital officials said, but he may have been taken to another hospital.
Stancill, of 256 Cannon Ave., was driving an older model brown Chevy S-10 pickup. Clodfelter, of 235 Buccaneer Circle, was driving a silver, older model Dodge Ram pickup.
The accident happened in front of Betty Lippard’s home on Faith Road.
Lippard said she had just gotten off the phone when she heard the crash.
“I opened the door and the man — he started leaning over the steering wheel. I knew he was hurt bad,” Lippard said. “It’s pitiful to see something like this.”
Lippard said Clodfelter was coming home from work when the wreck happened.
Lippard said Stancill was pinned in the vehicle and had to be cut free.
“They got him out of there with straps all around him,” Lippard said.
South Salisbury fire department and the N.C. Highway Patrol were on the scene, along with other emergency responders. The Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
