Responsible Dog Ownership Day event today

The American Kennel Clubís local chapter and Friends in Fur rescue will host a local Responsible Dog Ownership Day event at Dan Nicholas Park on Bringle Ferry Road from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. There is no cost to attend.
Responsible Dog Ownership Day is a national initiative with about 600 organizations holding community events throughout the month of September. Itís aim, a press release said, is ěeducating owners about how to be a good pal to your pooch.î
Demonstrations will include agility dogs racing through obstacles; safety around dogs for kids and parents; grooming of teeth, coat, nails and ears; and the Central Piedmont Search and Rescue dog team.
Activities will also include a ěmeet the breedsî fair showcasing the most popular and rarest AKC-registered breeds; AKC Good Canine Citizen testing; a $25 microchip clinic, which provides an implant and lifetime database enrollment.
Dan Nicholas Park is at 6800 Bringle Ferry Road.
