One hurt in wreck

One person was airlifted after a near head-on collision Friday night at N.C. 152 and Shuping Mill Road.
A medical helicopter landed at New Haven Baptist Church to transport one injured passenger, who was briefly trapped in a van that was knocked into the woods by the impact.
Smoke was seen coming from the van as rescue crews arrived on the scene just after 8:30 p.m.
