March of Dimes Run/Walk For Babies Saturday
Salisbury Community Park will be the site for the inaugural March of Dimes Run/Walk for Babies 5K and Kids Fast Dash on Saturday morning.
Rowan Regional Medical Center is the presenting sponsor for the March of Dimes activities.
The Kids Fast Dash half mile fun run starts at 9 a.m., and the 5K starts at 9:30. The Walk kicks off just behind the runners start.
Registration at the Community Park will start at 8:30 a.m. Online registration is ongoing at www.marchofdimes. com/northcarolina, by phone at 828-464-8905, and at the F&M Bank Main Street branch between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. today. Pre-registered runners and walk teams can pick up T-shirts and turn in extra funds raised at that time too.
Cash prizes will go to the winners. Medals will be awarded to the top three in standard age groups for both male and female. Fast Dash awards will go to the top 3 in age groups 5 and under, 6-9, and 10-12. If you are unable to attend the race, but still want to help out, itís possible to register as a sleep walker. Fee for a sleep walker is $25, and you can sleep in while helping babies.
There will be a kidsí zone with crafts, face painting, games and a DJ. Water and snacks will be provided for runners and walkers.
