SALISBURY — Police charged a Salisbury man on Friday with shooting another man in the face and throat with a BB-gun in a restaurant parking lot earlier this month.
According to the arrest report, Luther Franklin Shinault, 25, was charged with shooting Kevin Haight six times in the neck, face and throat after the two went outside to “straighten things out,” in the parking lot of Ivan’s Restaurant, 2024 Old Mocksville Road, just after midnight on Sept. 7.
The incident may have been related to a family dispute, a Sept. 7 report stated.
According to police, Haight, 30, had been having trouble with Shinault and asked him to go out to the parking lot with him.
In the parking lot, Shinault reportedly pulled out the weapon and shot Haight twice in the chest, twice in the neck and twice in the face. One shot was directly to Haight’s throat, police said.
Police said emergency medical responders removed the pellets. According to the report, Haight was covered in blood and the BBs were visible to officers.
Shinault was arrested at his home at 2006 Old Mocksville Road. He was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
He was given a $2,000 bond and was in jail this afternoon.
