Food distribution

There will be a food distribution on Wednesday for Rowan County residents only at the Salisbury Civic Center, 315 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., or until all the food is gone.
Food stamp recipients should bring the letters which were mailed to them. Please also bring boxes or bags to carry out the food.
All others who do not receive food stamps can come to Salisbury Civic Center because they may also be eligible to receive the free food. However, they must disclose their total gross monthly household income.
The following are examples of the income guidelines. Please note changes from previous food distributions.
Family of 1 ó $1,815.
Family of 2 ó $2,452.
Family of 4 ó $3,725.
Family of 6 ó $4,999.
Available foods include applesauce, cereal, whole chicken, corn, creamed corn, peaches, peanut butter, sliced potatoes, vegetable mix, vegetable oil.
In agreement with federal laws and policies of the Department of Agriculture, this agency prohibits any discrimination based on race, skin color, nationality, sex, age or physical disability.
Organizers warn people not to form a line before 4 a.m, when police officers will be present.
The distribution is sponsored by the Altrusa Club of Salisbury and the Salisbury Department of Parks and Recreation.
