A benefit Saturday will raise money for a fund in memory of a 12-year-old boy who died in June after a dirt-bike accident.
The Lil’ Trent Brown Memorial Walk and Fundraiser will be 9 a.m.-noon at the East Rowan High School track. Participants will walk a lap around the track and release balloons.
Entry requires a $5 donation. T-shirts will be on sale for $12 and memory bracelets for $2. Raffle tickets will also be on sale for donated items from Salisbury Cycle Center and Cheesemans General Store.
Music will be provided by Virtual Sounds. Other activities will include face painting.
Proceeds go to the Trent Brown Memorial Fund, which is raising money to build a columbarium in his memory at Organ Lutheran Church, where he attended with his family.
Trent died after an accident June 7 when a flag he was wearing as a cape became caught in his dirt bike’s rear wheel as he rode around his grandparents’ property on Old Beatty Ford Road. He was a sixth-grader at Erwin Middle School.
