A car was involved in the  accident where a tractor-trailer overturned this morning at Executive Drive and Harrison Road, near the Food Lion corporate headquarters.
Sharika Heggins was driving a dark green Buick. She said she glanced away, and “when I looked back, I was on the right side of his lights.
“I’m not sure if he crossed  (the center line) but I know I didn’t.”
The Buick and the truck swerved away from each other, causing the truck to overturn in a ditch.
Heggins’ car hit some large stones on the side of the road and ran into an embankment near the entrance to the Wendover Heights neighborhood.
Heggins did not require medical treatment, but the  49-year-old truck driver cut himself free of his safety belt and has been taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center with abrasions and pain in his neck and back, according to emergency radio communications.
“If I didn’t swerve, we probably would have hit,” Heggins said.
The Freightliner truck was carrying boxes of cabbage, which spilled onto the road. Four wreckers were trying to turn the truck upright at about 10:45 a.m.
