SALISBURY — Authorities have made an arrest in the Wednesday morning shooting of a 21-year-old Kannapolis man.
Quamaine Deshawn Patterson, 18, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Rigoberto Angeles-Resendiz.
He turned himself in to police today and is being held without bond. His first court appearance is scheduled Friday.
Elementary school students and a bus driver found the victim dead in his still-running car from a gunshot wound to the head around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday on Foster Lane, off Morlan Park Road.
Early this morning, Salisbury Police Department investigators identified Patterson as the suspected killer. A short time ago, police notified the Post that Patterson had been taken into custody.
In a press release from Salisbury Police Chief Rory Collins, he wrote, “The fast work of detectives in this case to identify the suspect and to get him into custody was the result of outstanding teamwork and investigative skills. We are also very grateful to those from within our community who called in tips in this case, which helped to lead us in the right directions. This is a very good example of the benefit of a partnership between a law enforcement agency and its community.”
