SALISBURY — What began as a fight between a couple about laundry ended with both of them being charged with assault.
Leonard Parnell Bolt, 68, brought charges against his wife, Reba Williams Bolt, 48, through the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office.
He described the incident to the magistrate, which occurred July 26, at the couples’ home, 120 Eldon Lane, Salisbury.
According to a report, Leonard Bolt said his wife was “out of control” and “started” with him about a shirt that was in the hamper.
He alleges his wife is an alcoholic and drug user.
“On this day she was using crack and beer,” he said in a statement to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
He claimed Reba Bolt punched him in the eye and shoved him out of the front door into the yard as he tried to leave the home.
Reba Bolt was charged with misdemeanor simple assault and Leonard Bolt was later charged with misdemeanor assault on a female. She is expected in court later this month and Leonard Bolt is scheduled to be in court in October.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office served a warrant for Reba Bolt on Tuesday.
According to the warrant, Reba Bolt has pressed domestic violence charges against her husband on a previous occasion where he received 48 hours in the county jail.
